Wincher's Stance
This is a bronze statue in Buchanan Street station called The Wincher's Stance.
I'm unreliably informed that the Scots word "winch" means to kiss and cuddle (possibly courting?).
I pass it almost every day and there's usually lots of dejected looking passengers waiting around it looking like they could do with a good winch.
It's by an aptly named sculptor called John Clinch. But apparently the name of the work was actually chosen by Susan Richie who won a competition in a local paper to come up with the best name (the prize being a trip to Paris).
Why not winch, or clinch, someone today?
