Tyneside's A1 monument

The Angel of The North sits between two generations of The A1 Great North Road, a 1990's dual carriageway passes to the west, while it's access is from the original route between Birtley and Gateshead. Interesting that such a significant work is located on this historic road, for me it suggests there is still something special about these journeys, perhaps even spiritual, rather than endlessly mundane.
