American Goldfinch

I was surprised to see this brilliant splash of yellow along my regular walking trail this morning. I wish I could've gotten closer, but it was such a beautiful contrast against the green forest I'm posting it anyway! I have to be thankful for the walking trail practically outside my backdoor. Yesterday I watched a bald eagle devour some kind of bird, and today, this lovely yellow surprise!!
