To the Edinburgh Fringe press launch at the National Galleries, where chief executive Kath Mainland, chair Prof Sir Timothy O'Shea and Edinburgh City Council Festivals Wallah Steve Cardownie gave us the facts and figures. This year offers 49,497 performances of 3193 shows in 299 venues.
