Mottisfont Abbey and Gardens.

Mrs B and I went out for the day and visited Mottisfont Abbey and Gardens.
Great weather, not to warm or to cool as you can tell by the shot above.
I was just lucky enough to get this shot whilst it was clear of people except three of them.!!

Mottisfont Abbey is near Romsey, Hampshire. It is an 18th-century Abbey with a medieval priory at its heart. Artists come here from all over the country to relax and create works which can be seen in the historic rooms in the house. The tradition carries on to this day where major exhibitions are held.

Outside, there is a walled rose garden which has many 18th century varieties, which in fact is the oldest collection of old rose varieties in one place. This was glorious, beautiful roses in flower and the rest of the walled garden very well cared for. I took lots of shots of it, but there were so many people getting in the way, we decided to come back another time for this part.
It is, however, most spectacular.

It is open all year round and they have a winter garden as well. We actually walked right round the estate by the rivers and copses.
We also just touched upon the Cellarium under the house where monks made their wine. Beautiful arches within the cellarium in which I took some shots, but we were a bit pushed for time as we wanted to call into a well known garden centre and promptly came out with a tree I have had my eye on for some time.!

I only wish I could post a few shots, rather than just the one. I will put the other ones on my flickr page later on.

This is run by the National Trust, if you are a member, it is free and if you are ever in the area it is well worth a visit.

Enjoy and take care.
