The writing on the wall

6 June 2014 - 7oth anniversary of D Day. Such an audacious idea and such an incredible feat of organisation. I listen to the veteran's tales with tears in my eyes. So many stories of courage.

I think of my paternal grandfather, Bill Smith, a doctor who went over on D Day plus six. He was awarded the Croix de Guerre from the French government and mentioned in dispatches for going across a mine field to deliver a baby.
