Sink Hole

There's a little hole in the road on the way to the paper shop. The highway men have put some cones around it; it's no more than 150cm in diameter. The area around it of about 1m across dips slightly, the lane has many of these dips or impressions along its length.

I poked the camera through the hole and took this pic. The shot shows a tree route and washed stones at the bottom of the hole. The hole probably has a volume of around a cubic metre although it extends into darkness indicating a previous heavy flow of water.
It seems there are many of these holes waiting to be exposed, I guess as the road surface softens during the summer. It's quite a busy lane, I do hope nobody's car falls through it in the coming months -- especially ours.
