Front centre in uniform; France WW2.
My wonderful grandad who I loved and adored my entire life and along with my dad the only man I ever loved until I got married.
My grandad had his favourite (moi) which didn't go down well with my mother as there were five of us.
When I was little they lived in Stratford-upon-Avon and my Grandad would come and get me from home in his beige jag (I was always fascinated by the movable armrest in the back seat) and I would stay with him and my nan for the weekend. Sunday morning was always me in the middle of their bed with a cup of tea and Jaffa cakes and I loved it. My grandad used to take me somewhere(no idea) to get spring water from a tap in a wall and he would bottle it.
Funny what memories we have isn't it.
Our nana & grandad became nana and grandad to my children because my mum lived away when they were growing up and I'm so immensely thankful that my children knew and had the love that I knew and had.
I love you & I miss you.
I and generations are thankful for you and all those others that fought in Normandy and thankfully survived to live your life.
My nan whilst my grandad was away at war for years had to leave home twice with three young children due to the house being bombed and they lost everything just as thousands of others. My mum has memories of being under the kitchen table whilst the bombings were happening.
I can't even imagine how traumatic life was for millions of people during wartime but how they united and always pulled together was phenomenal. God bless each and everyone of you, I salute you all.
Love & peace xx
