This stag beetle was 'sprinting' across the garden this evening at such a pace. If it had stayed still, I might not have noticed it.

I think our shady garden is good for beetles.

I am amazed at those frond-like things sticking out the front (The ones next to the pincers). They're such a funny shape. I wonder if they act like whiskers.

And those curved feet - they look like fish hooks, or anchors.
