days I'll remember

By bassrockbob

Early

Up at 6.30 and drove to Aberlady Bay for an early walk, and this was the view as we crossed the rickety wooden footbridge over the Peffer Burn.

The air was full of larks ascending and warblers warbling; a deer eyed us suspiciously from the long grass into which it had been kicked. Or not.

Cockenzie power station still stood along the coast, but isn't much longer for this world. We reached the sea where we decided that the tide was on its way in, although it was on its way out - just.

On the stroll back we saw three more deer, a young male and two females.

And then on to the Belhaven store for a late breakfast, including outstanding pancakes with strawberries, banana and blackberries. Oh boy.

In the afternoon I not only broke a tooth but also booked holiday flights to Italy for later in the summer.

I think that counts as a full day.
