"Please anyone, save me from my face!"
"..yes do that. Save us from our faces, pull us back from the mirrors, the blogs and mobile cameras. Save us from the 00-decade and all these confidences that we never have asked for // Media trained people of the 00-decade need their conformation increasingly faster, like a drug addict need his drug. And exactly like the drug addict the enjoyment lasts shorter and shorter the more you continue".
The above quotations are from an article I read in today's paper critically discussing the new Neo-narcissism spreading because of our new media habits!
I think the author of the article have a point in us being able to bathe in peoples´ actions, thoughts and confidences if we want to in the net, in our mobile phones or in all these stupid TV Soaps! And maybe, also quoting the author, people living right now have an enlarged self image connected with a limitless apprehension of how interesting we think we are, and at the same time there seem to be no borders to the demands on how unique we must be to put out.
Although this is an interesting critique and thinking of my own engagement here on blip (not to mention my plans of starting my own blog!), I feel there is also something very healthy with these new possibilities of us ordinary people to express ourselves in arenas were interested fellow humans all over the globe can respond if they want to?
..and could you not see the critique (written by a free-lance writer) as an attempt to protect a "taken" territory from trespassers!?
..and, couldn´t the display of millions of daily reports of average peoples lives eventually make us see that basically, in every important way, everyone are as unique AND trivial us anyone else? I would like that!
Pic from a little film sent to me by my "daughter-in-law" originating from the non-commercial Swedish TV encouraging people to pay their TV licences. If you have a photo of someone (this time..of me) in this film it will be displayed in different important public places and events! Rather amusing, isn´t it!?
Wow, it is a long time since I wrote this much on a blip!
