Smile!
Five years ago Calum came home from school excited to tell us that he had been selected to play cello.
Cello?
I had bagpipes or the clarinet in mind.
Cello?
Anyway, cello it was and a year later, Lewis came home with the same news.
Slowly but surely, the scratching and the plucking metamorphosed into recognisable tunes and after a while we were enjoying primary school cello group performances without ear muffs!
Now both boys are playing in the senior string orchestra and have just returned from music camp which sounded like an amazing experience.
Tonight was the culmination of the work from this school year and the camp.
I am so so glad that we decided to give the cello a go - it is a beautiful instrument and both boys have come to love it (almost as much as rugby, volleyball, glidng, scootering and piano....?)
This photo reflects a wee moment between both boys, their teacher and the conductor - apparently Calum is renowned for being SO serious and focused when he plays this piece that it has become a standing joke to try to make him laugh or get distracted.
As you can see, the boy was not for being distracted!
An amazing night. Such a privilege. So good to see how our money has been spent over the past 4-5 years....
Still would like someone to pick up the bagpipes though!
