Haven't you grown?

When I was young, people always used to greet me with "my, haven't you grown" type comments - pretty accurate as I did shoot up like a weed as a child and was usually the tallest in the classroom.

So this afternoon, I took a toddle around the village and arboretum to try to shift my awful headache.

Walking down from the recreation ground ("you going up the Rec?"), this was the view on entering the arboretum. I must confess it has probably been over a year since I last walked here and it used to be a gravel path lined with a few spindly young trees - but look at it now! A complete canopy of greenery! It was quite lovely, but strangely disorientating. You used to be able to see across from one side of the arboretum to the other, but it is now heavily grown and with wild grasses at chest height around the edges. It must be a wonderful haven for wildlife. Presumably all as a result of the extremely heavy rainfall over the past year or more?
