Grey heron

Expecting another day snowed in, I was watching out the back window for predictable snow pictures, when I saw a bird swooping overhead that looked like a heron. He must be frozen out where he usually lives, desperately looking for water.

I thought of next door's pond, craned my neck (no pun intended) and cranked up the zoom and there he was, on next door's garden pond. Beautiful, but such a shame that this prolonged freeze has displaced him into urban back gardens.
