English village fete!

Attended a great English village fete at Staple Fitzpaine today, complete with Morris dancers and cream teas. Wellington Silver Band played all afternoon on the terrace. I managed to sneak in a blip during one piece where percussion was 'tacet'. The weather was unexpectedly dry, bright sunshine, warm if very windy (clothes pegs galore and we had to put the wind chimes away as they were tinkling away in the - er - wind).

My corner is bottom left - the tambourine is sitting on one of the timpani. I get to play all the fun, tickly stuff, glock, tamb, triangle, claves, maraccas, cowbell, woodblock, cabassa, etc, and timpani - not always correctly, alas, but I'm well tolerated!

The band played very well, sounded good, and an excellent time was had by all. We ended with a rowdy rendition of Baggy Trousers. I do wonder what the Sex Pistols would have made of their anarchic hit being arranged for brass band!

I collected my son on the way home and he, Hamey and I have just finished a lovely dinner of sea bass and vegetable, apple and berry crumble with custard and icecream, washed down with a chilly pinot grigio. Is there time for a movie before bed, I wonder ... ?

No doggy for Hamey yet, sadly.
