Meall nan Luath
The rain which was forecast long in advance arrived this evening as predicted. However it has been a beautiful day in Lochaber and even when the bright morning sunshine faded the sky was full of the most interesting tones and cloud formations.
Mrs SJR, unusual for Saturday, did a run with her friends this morning. Caley needed a decent walk today. I suggested Bohuntin Hill to Mrs SJR. This was declined but brought the response of Meall nan Luath. We haven’t been here for ages. It is a longer walk than BH on very rough tussocky ground but brings a similarly rewarding view at the end. We went with that and Caley’s approval rating was high.
It is an hour each way and at the top it felt quite cool in the breeze but we stopped here to have our provisions, a pear and a nectarine, and to savour the view.
Mrs SJR is standing on the near sky line and beyond to the left is the collective mass of what gets called Nevis Range these days. Aonach Mor dominates here but you can see the summit crest of the Ben too.
