The folding bike race.

This evening Clare and I (to be grammatically correct), went to Smithfield to watch the London Nocturne. For those that don't know, it's an annual series of criteriums, (nowadays seemingly pronounced with a hard first 'i' not a long 'eye'), which translates as city centre bike races.
There are many varied races ranging from elite road racing to 'Boris' bikes to penny farthings. What you see here is the tail end of the massed start of the folding bike race. About 50 riders, mostly wearing suit jackets and ties run 100m before locating and reassembling their bikes and racing off at breakneck speed. A brilliant spectacle.
I thought I was being clever with my positioning for maximum viewing of the mayhem, then they all deconstructed their bikes on the wrong side of the start/finish line. Ho hum. A great evenings entertainment. See you there next year.

(And don't forget there's St Johns around the corner for a pint and delicious bone marrow on toast.)
