Cancer we're coming to get you

Today was our Race For Life. A friend who had part of her lung removed last year following the discovery of a tumour wanted to walk the 5k race, because she could. And I was happy to keep her company.
Between those participating in the 10k event and those in the 5k, a sea of pink comprising women of all ages, children and some dogs, raised over £300,000 for cancer research. Many had signs on their backs saying who they were doing it for. Some survivors, many not.
We ran, jogged, walked and talked our way round the course. The sun shone, the sky was blue, we felt good, if at times a little teary.
