NIGHTLIGHT IN THAILAND
Our Link Workers, (formerly called Missionaries) Paul and Sarah, were at church this morning to share with us about their work in Bangkok, Thailand with NightLight International.
This organisation, partnered with BMS World Mission, reaches out to women and children who have become victims of prostitution and sex trafficking and provides an economic alternative to them through teaching them how to make jewellery to sell.
They have also opened a coffee shop in Bangkok and Sarah, who formerly rang her own cake business, is teaching the ladies how to bake. They are now looking for a property and will be purchasing baking equipment and an oven so that they can sell the bread and cakes that they bake. If you want to know more, please have a look at their Blog here.
We watched a presentation of their work the background song to which was "God of this City" - which I found very poignant - particularly as it showed photographs of various places in Bangkok and some of the people involved with NightLight. It was very interesting for Mr HCB and me as our younger son is living and working in Thailand.
The photograph shows some of the tee shirts Paul and Sarah brought and they also brought some of the jewellery made by the women, to sell.
This quote was on Paul and Sarah's latest blog:
Just because I feel afraid and vulnerable
doesn't change the fact that I am courageous.
