After a very big walk ~

We finally reached Poltalloch House.

Set in extensive level parklands close to the Kilmartin Glen, is the huge ruin of th Neo~Jacobean mansion of New Poltalloch.
Built in 1849 for the astronomical cost of £100,000, it fell victim to a changing world, when in 1957 the owners chose to remove the roof, and move into their nearby castle, to avoid the crippling post war taxes.

We had to fight our way through a jungle of shoulder high giant hogweed to get there today. It didn't help that the map had been left at home!

It's been a beautiful sunny day all day, but my photos of the house all came out dark and brooding. I wouldn't like to be there on a moonlit night!

More will be added to Flickr when BT Broadband starts behaving!!

Finished our roast dinner, and onto the wine, so I just hope we don't both seize up completely, or we won't make it up the stairs to bed :)
