Upstairs Downstairs

We once followed the policy of not feeding the birds outwith winter, but have been persuaded that it's fine to feed the birds throughout the year...

I was actually hoping to get a shot of Professor Yaffle, being the woodpecker who is regularly visiting the feeders, but instead all the activity was at the coconut shell filled with insect laden lard...yum.

In this moment, the rather tatty looking blue tit (a tired parent maybe) is about to be ousted by its larger cousin..
