Flowers
She arranged white and blue Hydrangeas.
Placed them on a wooden shelf in their kitchen
Near the kid's play room.
These flowers marked a beginning.
Delivery people came and went all thru the day.
The men walked on a bridge of hay
I built that morning on top of the wet dirt.
They carried inside their new furniture, tables, rugs.
A house, a world, taking shape.
She was excited.
Filled with quiet pride (like him).
Nervous in a good way.
The road ahead clear.
Luckily, no rain came.
The tasks of the day were completed.
Their new house is
Built high up on a hill.
They have five acres of wooded land.
We called it "Parker's Mountain"
When they first bought the land.
Now, it is their "home".
Not a mountain.
A place filled with warmth and vitality.
