Dubwath Caterpillars

Went to the nature reserve this morning, while sitting in the Norse hut sheltering from the rain I noticed a tree covered with "webs". When the rain stopped I had a closer look and found a lot of these "webs" were full of caterpillars.
Think they may be some sort of moth larvae.
