Take-off
Most of the day was again spent on Portholme - the weather was better than yesterday with no rain, although there was a surprisingly cool wind, which kept us moving briskly. My leg felt a bit tired after a full day of fieldwork yesterday, but on the whole I'm pleased with how it's coping.
When I got back I spent a little time doing some insect photography. I've been trying to get an image of a flying cockchafer for some time, but it's not easy. I can predict roughly when they're going to take off, but the action takes place in a split second. This is my best effort so far, taken using burst mode and a ring-flash. One day I'll manage to get it completely in focus as well!
