Ingenuity
To do what you can with what you have is truly a virtuous way to live. It's pretty hard to do. I always want more stuff and once I get more stuff, I want other stuff and more of it. This unfortunately is indicative of our society as a whole. Not every one of course, but enough to make it a problem. In fact, right up until the recent economic crisis, there wasn't too much talk about the value of "living within our means". This crisis has cost many people, many things, but hearing and seeing that simple phrase splashed across various news outlets and the feeling that living in excess is no longer hip is quite possibly the silver lining of this whole mess.
This is a log splitter. It is attached to the rear wheel of our van. Now, this may be common in other parts of the country, or the world for that matter, but I have never heard of such a thing. Pure genius in my book, it is far less expensive than a fancy hydraulic one, however, it works perfect for what we want it to do. It's this kind of "out of the box" thinking that is spurred by a tightening budget and it's this type of ingenuity that could help make a more efficient, logically sound global community.
Cheers to creativity and much less "stuff".
