When You're Too In Love to Let It Go

I love "summer" evenings.

When the air is still and warm, the grass under foot is damp.

The sun has just disappeared under the horizon but the sky is still strangely light.

There is one bird sitting on the gable end of each house... A rook, a starling, a blackbird. There is some conversation going on between them all. kaw kaw kaw, Ark ark Ark, Craw Craw Craw. Three Seagulls fly by on their way to roost at the shore. More conversation between them all. The nestlings are all silent.

Snails are out moving amazingly fast across the patio - trying to escape from the copper band I've discovered. Little spiders are going crazy making webs all along the pegs. At least one spider to every peg, sometimes 3.

There is a smell. I think it is the smell of the effort of the plants growing. They have had a busy couple of days, heat, and rain. Heat and Rain. My sweet peas are about 5 inches high now. My Sunflower leaves are looking super healthy, and my new herb box is blooming lovely.

There is a smell of warm freshly cooked bread coming from the house too... yes, I have been domestic goddess tonight ... crochet, a bit of my sewing machine and bread rolls.

And now, it's time for bed.
