State championship track and field competition

Each year at this time, hundreds of California’s best athletes compete in dozens of events to determine the best in their category before about 15,000 people. I attended this year because my grandson competed in two events. I traveled over 300 miles to see him run a total of less then two minutes. However, at the end of two days I was in awe of all the wonderful young athletes who competed. They came from every corner of the state and competed in 100 degree heat for their moment of fame and to attract the attention of college scouts.
