The calvary, Notre-Dame-de-Tronoën, SW Brittany

Churches in Brittany often have these very elaborate "calvaries" outside - a way of teaching parishioners about the crucifixion and resurrection. This one, dated mid-fifteenth century, is the oldest, and stands beside a charming little church and a house or two in an otherwise open dune landscape. Definitely worth a visit if you are in this part of Brittany!
