sunrise, new year's day
I took this quick snap from my back door, not long after waking, of the sun coming up on new year's day. I was probably half asleep and a little bit hungover so it's not the best.
Went on to spend a lovely day with friends in Limekilns, Fife. They have a beautiful house with panoramic views over the Forth, to Blackness on the south side of the river, to the Forth Bridges in the east, and the hills beyond Stirling in the west. Took ourselves a walk along the shore, slithering and slipping on the icy surfaces. Saw a few shore birds but couldn't quite identify them as they were so puffed up against the bitter cold that they just looked like round balls of fluff.
Took a good few better pics today, including a colourful sunset over the Forth.
However, in the end, decided to go with this one simply because it was the very first snapshot of the new year, and indeed of the new decade.
