In Lucas Wood
One of the many things I'm finding really interesting and rewarding about this project is the way that, as the days go by and the images and words start to accumulate, patterns begin to emerge which tell their own story.
And one of the themes in that story is the peace that I find in being among trees, watching the play of light and shade and shadow. So I took today's photo in Lucas Wood, the piece of privately managed woodland that joins the end of our close. It provides a sanctuary for all sorts of wildlife as well as a corridor for them to travel between the various green places dotted around the town, and means we enjoy a constant serenade of bird song whenever we're out in the garden. It's a place I could happily sit quietly in for an hour or two, watching whatever comes across my path - perhaps a thought for another sunny day.
