Snail's Pace

My eyesight is too poor to catch a blip of birds or other wildlife as they've gone before I see them, but this specimen moved at a pace even I could focus on. It was creeping up the window as it must have found the garden far too wet. It's not there now. I had nothing to do with its departure though we did have an upsetting morning with a pheasant which was wandering around the garden with no tail feathers, unable to fly. Mr C thought we might have to do the kind thing but instead we ushered it through the back gate and off the premises into the woods beyond.

After that the day got better - I met an old friend for lunch at Arlo's, in Jesmond. Then I went two stops on the metro to call on a Ella and Nathaniel. Now I'm home, chilling with a glass of chilled white wine.
