Pigeons and Tabal Cain Monument

A busy day after last night's excitement. Washing and bike maintenance. Obviusly I couldn't go crazy with bike maintenance. Bike oil doesn't go down well on clean washing.

After lunch, I went down to Newington to meet my partner, who had been working in the morning. We had to get stationery for twins 1 and 2 for final year in school. Just as well we didn't go to the Meadows Festival as the rain started just before I got off the bus. Fortunately it was only a light shower.

As we head for coffee, we pass Nicholson Square Gardens. A whole load of pigeons are there, obviously attracted by something laid on for them. It was quite a sight.

On the right is the Tabal Cain monument. Tabal Cain was a bliblical brass and ironworker. The monument was moved to Nicholson Square Gardens, from Saughton Gardens, after it was gifted to the city by the United Journeymen Brassfounders, Turners, Fitters, Finishers and Coppersmiths' Association of Great Britain and Ireland (East of Scotland Branch). Each side of the bronze pillar has a set of coat of arms. The blip shows the east side, which has coat of arms for, from the top - down, England, Perth, Linlithgow, Kirkcaldy, Jedburgh and Perth.

After coffee, it really tipped it down. Thanks heavens for bus shelters. I got home without getting too wet.
