Heron on the Water of Leith

The morning was interspersed by heavy rain showers, so I waited for a bit to allow the last one at lunchtime to pass before heading out for my walk. I took loads of pictures of the sky reflected in puddles. Also a fair few of the Water of Leith, most of which is now smothered by summer greenery.

Near Damside, I spotted this heron, first standing quite close to the large weir, then moving up stream to a slightly less precarious position. As I headed to Dean Path Bridge I thought I might be able to get a better view of the heron. I think I managed it. While it is further away, the photo seems more composed. Great Large.
