The Last Speakeasy...
...not the last one ever, but the last Speakeasy at the Storytelling Centre this "season" it will be back in October. I guess with the Fringe in August it gives everybody a chance to prepare and recover. The weather was a bit iffy today, with drizzly rain most of the day, but by late afternoon it brightened up and I took this image from just outside The Scotsman Hotel at the end of North Bridge.
Hopefully everybody would recognize this as the West End of Princes Street, looking over Waverley Station rooftop at The Blmoral Hotel on the right and the Scott Monument on the extreme left.
I actually had a lot of difficulty getting the sky and the buildings to both show up clearly, my camera phone struggles with the extreme contrast of light between the two. So I took two pictures, one focused on the buildings, where the sky was "blown out", very white and little cloud definitions and another focused on the sky where the buildings were very dark. I then used some HDR software on my laptop to merge the two and get the best of both With my proper camera I would have taken three shots (with a middle exposure for balance) but this seem to work quite well.
