How Green Was My Valley

That was the title of a 1939 book by Richard Llewyllyn, on which an Academy Award-winning film was based. It was about a mining community in the South Wales Valleys.

This is Cwm Sorgwm, which is in South Wales right enough, but not in a mining area. On the left is Mynydd Llangorse, on the right Mynydd Troed. Beth and I were coming down from a walk on Pen Tir, which lies to the south of Mydydd Llangorse. Not a soul up there but us, the skylarks, a few sheep and tadpoles in a clear pond.
