Bad News

When I started commuting almost 9 years ago you'd expect a significant delay approximately once a fortnight. The service has got much better and long delays only happen rarely.

One thing that hasn't gotten any better, however, is the apparent contempt that Iarnrod Éireann seems to have for it's passengers, at least as far as communication goes. The big electronic board which shows departures was merrily sending out phantom trains to all parts south and west. There was no staff visible. Just this whiteboard and an occasional distorted announcement, which was frequently interrupted by pre-recorded announcements about more phantom trains we might wish to hurry up and board.

Don't get me started on the on-board tannoy system...
