The Tree Of Life
I've been experimenting a fair bit with multiple water drop collisions and am starting to get some good results, although it has to be said that the process is slow.
Managing to get two drops to collide is a bit of an achievement but to then photograph that collision successfully is the icing on the cake. Then there is the three drop collision. That is where it starts to get just a little tricky. It isn't easy. Just to give you an idea of the complexity, I have jotted down some of the variables which have to be taken into account for this all to happen.
1/ Drop size
2/ Drop Height
3/ Gap between drops
4/ Water temperature
5/Water chemistry ( of the drop and the reservoir)
6/ Water depth
7/ Shutter speed
8/Flash duration ( this was taken with three flashes)
9/Flash delay
10/ ..... it goes on.
This picture is one of hundreds of failuresI had tonight. In fact I have taken over 1000 photographs tonight and deleted all but 30. Of that 30 probably only 5 are actually worth keeping. The rest I have kept for other reasons. This was one of them. I just liked the sculptural glassy appearance of this one.
