I asked him whether he felt honoured to be shot by such a distinguished writer and politician as John Buchan.

(He was shot in Glen Etive on 3 October 1912. Buchan was probably staying with his old friend and business partner, Tommy Nelson - of Nelson's the Pubilshers. Nelson was killed in April 1917 on the same day as Buchan's brother, Alistair.)
