Woods
What a day for walking in the woods, After many long, cold months now is the perfect time to get out and about and start rubbing the winter from those weary eyes. The countryside is teeming with life as leaves begin to burst forth from sleeping trees, and woodland plants rush to flower before the canopy closes in. There's plenty to discover in woodlands, from anemones and ramsons to primroses and iconic spring bluebells.
Although much wildlife is behind this year, flowers are now out in many of Wales woodlands, nodding their heads as they carpet the floors. There’s nothing more magical or enchanting than walking in woodlands dappled in gentle spring light, with a fragrant blue sea of delicate trumpet shaped blooms.
In times past, woodlands and fields were thought to be associated with fairy enchantments. It was believed that the bells of the bluebell rang to summon fairies to gathering, and humans who heard a bluebell ring would soon die.
