De Havilland Beaver 1959 vintage
The plan to meet up with son-in-law, Sean, who was riding along with the group from Mesa, Arizona worked perfectly.
I arrived in Plentywood, Montana at 5:30pm having driven 525 miles from Helena, Montana.
Whew, it was good to get out of the car.
I put fuel in the car and food in me, so that by 7:30pm I was ready for a snooze.
My plan was to sleep until Sean arrived at about 10:30pm to recharge a bit before we headed out to northern Saskatchewan.
The best plans often go awry… three phone calls and an early arrival of the Arizona folks netted me about 30 minutes of rest.
I must say I was not sad to see Sean and the Arizona contingent arrive early, as it was a grand reunion for us all.
Fuel and food for these folks took about 2 hours so that by 10:45pm we were off to drive the 500+ miles up to Lake Deschambault, Saskatchewan.
I’d promised I’d not drive more than 500miles without sleep… Oh well, better luck next time.
We arrived right on time at the Twin Bay "Resort", Deschambault Lake to unload our stuff and prepare for the plane ride in to Brownell Lake.
Kelly, the pilot, told me he’d just had the engine rebuilt; it had only 30 hours on it.
Gosh, I love this old De Havilland Beaver.
