new year walk

its traditional to go for a walk on new year's day. we met up with bass and did a short, low walk up Whitbarrow Scar. cathy's back was still painful and we wanted to avoid the need for crampons and ice axes, so we bought a book entitled "Walks Around Kendal with Children" and found the walk in there. we couldn't help but laugh at the title - reduced to this eh? :-)

still, the walk was, because of the snow, still pretty spectacular. this little tree is lit up behind by the setting sunlight reflecting off morcombe bay. i liked it up there!

bass came back to the cottage and i finished off all the food to make a shepherd's pie - not bad with just a cabbage, a swede, some lentils and some black-eye beans. :-) mulled cider finished off a nice evening!
