Light Pollution

Our church has just had it’s high pressure sodium flood lights replaced with LED lights.


To me the result is a cold grey look. Many people do not like sodium lighting, but to me it gives a warm feeling to the area lit, and it doesn’t completely wreck your night vision either – low pressure sodium pretty well leaves your night vision un-effected.

I have simulated sodium lighting on the right. To me that’s warm and inviting – like fire light.

But then again the original sodium lights were 400 watts each – the replacement LEDs 80 watts . . .
