The Strawberry

This was it - the first and only ripe strawberry in the garden this year! It was a whopper - and I can confirm it was very tasty! We carved it up and shared it for dessert (along with a few commercial ones!)

There are a few more pinking up - so maybe we will have some in a day or so.

Busy day again - driving test this morning (success, and a very happy young lady who also started a new job this evening!). She decided that Friday 13th would be her lucky day from now on.

This afternoon I set about making a batch of rhubarb chutney, using some of the glut of produce from the garden. All was well until just at the last few minutes when the chutney just caught on the bottom of the maslin pan. Slightly 'cinder toffee' type flavour - but hey ho - it will probably be alright with a nice strong cheese.

Took me longer to scrape the residue out of the pan than it did to make the chutney.
