Défi Science

Each year most of the classes at school participate in a science challenge. Each year group is given a challenge and they have a few weeks to work on their projects and then they display them and have to explain them to each of the other classes.

Luca's class were given the challenge of opening a box without touching it. They came up with several different methods - this is Luca demonstrating and explaining the 'bouchons qui dansent'. They had inserted, through holes at either end of the box, straws that were attached together and had a couple of plastic bottle tops attached to them. They then laid a couple of pieces of cardboard on top of the bottle tops and then the box lid. As he turned the straws at either end of the box the bottle tops pushed against the cardboard that in turn pushed against the lid of the box and opened it!
