Kellie Castle.
I can only visit so many stately homes at a time before I start to run out of steam/interest as regards the visitor experience. This apparently dates back to the 14th century and has beautiful gardens but most people in the 14th century were living in hovels, so this shows how a minority of people lived. It has tricky spiral staircases and creaky floorboards plus James IV, who seemed to travel about a fair bit, visited there once and the people who owned the castle at that time created a decorative plaster ceiling in his honour. Definitely a bit of atmosphere about the place, and I could imagine that at night the place would feel a bit spooky.
