An ordinary life....

Barney!

How chuffed does this lovely lady look with her new wheels? VERY chuffed and rightly so. But more on that later.

Today has been a bit of a whirlwind, but in a good way.

Not too much of a lie in this morning as lots happening. Marion arriving at midday. Lee-Anne and Dr Twitcher arriving at 1.00pm. Rosie the OT arriving at 1.30 and Ed arriving at 2.00pm.

The plan was straight forward. Alan’s lunch would be over by 12.30 giving me time to grab a bite. Rosie the OT would arrive and meet with David to discuss the manual handling plan for Alan for when we’re in Cornwall on holiday. Ed would arrive and him, David, Marion and Alan would spend the afternoon discussing and working out the manual handling plan for Cornwall. Meanwhile LeeAnne, Dr Twitcher and I would have a catch up and I would get a ride in Barney.

As ever, the best laid plans and all that.

I was running late (bizarrely as a result of running early so I decided to slow down!) Marion arrived (also running late). I was over half an hour late giving Alan his lunch and we’d just sat at the kitchen table to start when ding dong. Confused looks. I knew it wasn’t LeeAnne at the door as she’d already texted advising she was running late, so thought it must be Rosie arriving half an hour early (are you keeping up? )

Wrong! To my utter surprise and delight, it was Pamela (who was flower girl at our wedding) who I’ve not seen since here. She’d been in the area doing a photo shoot with a new born and popped in on the off chance we’d be in. It was so lovely to see her. Lots to catch up with. To my amazement and delight, Alan ate his lunch happily whilst Pamela and I chatted (he usually likes peace and privacy when eating). Every few mouthfuls he gave Pamela a most charming smile. Unfortunately the mouth full of ravioli kind of detracted from the charm.

Rosie and Ed arrived and they headed to Alan’s room with D and Marion to start the training. Pamela and I chatted a little while longer until she had to head off to prepare for an engagement shoot she’s doing this evening in St Andrews.

I just had time to cut up the Malteser tray bake I made last night when LeeAnne and Dr Twitcher arrived in Barney. We attempted to have coffee and malteser cake in the garden but surprise, surprise, the rain came on. No matter, coffee, calories and chat are just as good indoors when you’re with the right company.

Then it was time to go and meet Barney properly.

Oh my, he is very handsome indeed and doesn’t disappoint in performance. A smooth and thrilling ride. I am smitten!

Thank you for bringing Barney to meet me LeeAnne (and great to see Dr Twitcher too) I wish you and Barney many, many adventures and look forward to hearing all about them.

So all’s well that ends well. Running late worked out perfectly in the end. And it’s World Gin Day today Peeps, so I raise a glass of the finest Hendricks and wish you all a Happy Saturday.

Bottoms up! :))) xx
