It was Torphichen Gala day today. An annual event involving a parade around the town with a Gala day queen, flower girls, fairies, pages and Knights of St John with a few bands, fancy dress and a fire engine thrown in to complete it. These boys are dressed as the knights, who made their Scottish headquarters here in around 1160 at the preceptory.
I was looking for something related to the theme this week of "BOND". Thought this fit the bill as showing the bonds a community maintains and a link with the distant past.
