My lovely husband is away in the Lake District on a work trip for a few days so I took the three boys down on the train to Dundee to visit my parents.

I have to admit I surprise myself with my enthusiasm or naivety to think that I could possibly take three children, two school bags and reading packets, a buggy, a box stacked full of loom bands, a rucksack full of clothes and all the portable electronic devices we have on the Friday night commuter train and think I could get off scott free. Thankfully the person who had reserved the seat beside me didn't turn up and I think the fact that I had my littlest on my knee put all those standing around me off sitting down and so the ever moving baby was able to climb up and down round the seats and look, point and wave out the window. The largest pink lady apple I have ever seen also kept him entertained for almost 40 minutes.

The boys didn't get to sleep until past half 10 but it is lovely to be here.
