Plug-in
Well Thursday was the first time in several years of Blip that I have made the spotlight page. Thanks for the comments/stars/subs!
Today, something a bit more technical.
Another big yellow snake being readied for its voyage to the bottom of the sea. This is the end fitting for the cables that take the electricity from the turbines back to the substation.
In LARGE you can probably make out the folding 'barbs' that lock it in to the hole in the base of the turbine. The rest of the snake is made up of yellow 'bend-restrictors' that will keep the cable in a gentle curve between the attachment point and the seabed.
The cable itself will be laid by another ship and pulled along inside this contraption by a pre-installed messenger wire.
