Mulsanne Corner
A proper Le Mans Saturday.
We have grandstand seats in the Dunlop Stand by the bridge. A bit of a walk (as Alf likes to remind me) but a cracking view.
We watched the start from there, an immense tussle for the first few places between Toyota, Audi and Porsche..
Then back to camp for dinner and then out in the car to Arnage. Arnage is possibly my favourite place to watch the race, ideally in the middle of the night. We'd never been in daylight so set off. It is brilliant, right down by the barrier, 3M away from cars slowing down from top speed in order to take a tight right hander. We saw some great action.
Then back in the car to go to Mulsanne where Alf found a spot with a great view. We watched from there for a bit, which is where I caught this Aston leaving the slowing down bit a little late. We then headed back to camp. Another hour in the grandstand watching the action at the Dunlop and then back to bed. The racing is incredibly close this year, especially in the lower classes. I'll get Alf to provide you with a proper update later via the blog as he did a great write up of the start yesterday.
Thanks for your comments over the last few days, sorry I've been a bit rubbish I'll catch up later in the week.
Cheers
D
